The said workshops have trained over 100 print and media specialists and enhanced and improved their capacity to analyse and report on issues in Guyana in a fair, reasonable, truthful and balanced manner.Hubbard also noted USAID’s contribution to CCS in the form of equipment.Noting that USAID would continue supporting UG, he spoke of a three-year partnership between Ohio University and the CCS in UG.The partnership, Hubbard said, would strengthen the centre’s effectiveness in preparing students to meet workforce demands in the media and communications industry. It would also lead to the capability of media professionals in Guyana to report responsibly and effectively.He highlighted that the total funding of the project would be more than US$300,000.He said that it was the hope that CCS would become the standard of excellence in journalism and communication throughout the region.Dr David Chanderbally, the Registrar of UG, issued a challenge to the communication students of UG.He told those gathered of a university in Florida that owns and operates an entire television station.
